Sushi and Drums
The grocery store is unbelievable. Akemi-san and I were there again today, and the fish was mindblowing. We also saw, yes, a drumset:
Later on we went to sushi. I snuck a peak at the bill. Granted, we at all sorts of tasty and, to my mind, rare sorts of goodies including whale bacon (I feel guilty... =(  ), chumachi (yummy!), and awabi. However, the bill was over 13000 yen. Here's a hint: there are approximately 110 yen to the dollar right now. Glad I wasn't paying!
Before I finish with the sushi talk, let me just mention that the Ahi was to die for. I've never had Ahi so good, not even at the yummiest sushi restaurant ever on Honolulu, the only sushi place I've been to that had REAL wasabi. (And yes, Reckless, you owe me another trip there when we go to Oahu!)
I have to give a speech at work tomorrow or the next day. It's just a silly welcome speech, but it has to be in Japanese. That's fine if it's not tomorrow (I was told on Friday that I was supposed to give the speech Tuesday, but in an email I just reviewed, the speech is tomorrow), but if it is, I'm SCREWED. After all, my Japanese, much like my surfer-speak English, sucks!
Uh oh. I'm getting the 'battery dead' talk from the 'puter. That's one problem with old Japanese houses: no outlets. In the U.S. we have building codes that specify we need outlets every six inches or so, but there's not a outlet to be found here except in the kitchen. I guess that means I'm done for tonight. Wish me luck for tomorrow!
